History
De Ruyter & Son was founded in 1900 and was originally located on Voorstraat in Noordwijk. The company also had a nursery in Italy at that time, named Santa Rosa, where tulips that bloomed formerly were cultivated.
In 1920, de Ruyter & Son bought a farmhouse from 1885 on Herenweg in Noordwijkerhout. The farmhouse was completely renovated and became part of the flower bulb business.

In the 80's, de Ruyter & Son relocated entirely to Herenweg in Noordwijkerhout. The old office on Voorstraat in Noordwijk has now been renovated into a residential house.
In 2000, a new building is constructed on Herenweg.
In 2010, de Ruyter & Son is acquired by the bulb nursery WAM Pennings. WAM Pennings is a major flower bulb grower and has been active in the flower bulb sector for over 60 years.
WAM Pennings was founded in 1951 by Wim Pennings. In 1979, his son Simon Pennings joined the company and has since expanded it to what it is today. Allan is the third generation to join the company in 2020.

Over the years, de Ruyter & Son has significantly improved its sustainability efforts, including the installation of 1610 solar panels on the roof.
As of 2023, the farmhouse is still part of the company.
